In May 2025, Tashkent hosted a major signing ceremony where over 20 trade and investment agreements were formalized between Uzbekistan and leading companies from China’s Fujian Province.
The event marked an important step in strengthening economic ties between the two countries, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade informed.
The list of signatories included major Chinese enterprises such as Xiamen ITG Group, Fujian Xinwancheng Investment, Fujian Sitong Stone Company, and Fuzhou Fuqiang Precision.
The agreements span key sectors, including construction materials manufacturing, mining, textile production, automotive manufacturing, and the development of industrial parks.
A landmark project was the launch of the new Central Asian Express railway route connecting Tashkent with the Chinese port city of Fuzhou. This route significantly reduces cargo delivery times, cutting transit durations by nearly half compared to traditional logistics channels.
The first train, which departed on May 23, 2025, transported 50 containers of Uzbek cotton yarn purchased by Xiamen ITG Group—the largest importer of Uzbek yarn in China since 2016.
Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Uzbekistan’s Agency for Foreign Investment Attraction and the organizers of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT). This memorandum aims to promote investment in Uzbekistan and attract global companies to major projects in the country.
Under the agreement, Uzbekistan was officially invited to participate with a national pavilion at the 25th CIFIT, which will take place in Xiamen from September 8 to 11, 2025, under the theme "Expanding Bilateral Investment, Promoting Global Development."
Fujian Province, with a GDP of approximately $800 billion in 2024, is one of China’s most economically developed regions. Its growing involvement in Uzbekistan’s investment landscape reflects the increasing interest of Chinese companies in expanding their presence in Central Asia.
