Loading operations at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal in Novorossiysk, Russia, were temporarily suspended following a drone attack, reports Tengrinews.kz.
According to official information, an air raid alert was declared in the city on the night of September 24. Tanker loading was suspended, and vessels were redirected to anchorage areas on the instructions of the port captain. The company emphasized that such measures are standard procedure during an alert. Operations are expected to resume once the warning is lifted.
CPC noted that the terminal is part of a continuous production cycle and includes potentially hazardous facilities. “Such incidents can lead to serious environmental consequences and disrupt the consortium’s stable operations, including oil shipments to international markets,” the statement said.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium brings together leading oil and gas companies from Russia, Kazakhstan, the United States, and several European countries. Its main function is transporting oil produced at the Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak fields via the Tengiz–Novorossiysk pipeline. In 2024, around 63 million tons of crude were shipped through the system, with approximately 74% accounted for by international shippers, including Tengizchevroil, ExxonMobil, KazMunayGas, Eni, and Shell.
A day earlier, a drone strike was reported in central Novorossiysk. According to CPC, the attack damaged the consortium’s administrative office. Two employees sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized. Office operations have been temporarily suspended, and staff were evacuated.
