From January to May 2026, Kyrgyzstan imported 10,999 trucks, a 13.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of purchases increased significantly faster, by 49%, reaching 12.97 billion soms ($148.3 million).
The largest suppliers were the Republic of Korea (5,391 vehicles) and China (3,490), with Chinese truck deliveries increasing by 52% and their value increasing by 1.7 times, Akchabar.kg reported.
The increase in imports reflects the rapid expansion of Kyrgyzstan's freight transportation and logistics infrastructure. Increased foreign trade, the development of transport corridors between
China and Central Asian countries, and preparations for major infrastructure projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, are stimulating demand for commercial vehicles. At the same time, the market is updating its fleet with more modern vehicles and heavier-duty vehicles, which is also increasing the average cost of imports.
Compared to neighboring countries, Kyrgyzstan's growth appears to be among the fastest. While the truck market in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan remains larger, growth rates in recent years have been more moderate due to an established transport base.
For Kyrgyzstan, the current growth reflects the accelerated development of the logistics sector and the strengthening of the country's role as a regional transit hub.
