BISHKEK - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a law ratifying the Economic Partnership Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the United Arab Emirates, Akchabar.kg reports.

The document was signed by the heads of state of the EAEU and the UAE on June 27, 2025, in Minsk and aims to expand trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the parties.

One of the key provisions of the agreement is the reduction and elimination of customs duties on a number of goods, as well as the simplification of trade procedures. For Kyrgyzstan, this means expanded access to the UAE market for domestic agricultural and industrial products. Specifically, Kyrgyz producers will be able to export lamb, beef, canned meat, honey, nuts, dried vegetables, fruit juices, and fermented milk products duty-free. Furthermore, light industry enterprises and manufacturers of packaging materials, textiles, and lighting products will gain additional opportunities.

The government hopes the agreement will promote export growth, attract investment, create new jobs, and increase household incomes. The document also opens opportunities for expanded cooperation in services, e-commerce, and public procurement.

The UAE benefits from simplified access to the EAEU market, which has a population of over 180 million. Emirati companies will be able to supply goods and services to union countries on more favorable terms and expand their investment presence in the region. An additional benefit will be the development of logistics and trade links between the Gulf countries and the Eurasian Economic Union.

The agreement also regulates technical standards, sanitary and phytosanitary requirements, intellectual property protection, competition, and customs administration, which should make trade interactions more predictable and transparent for businesses.

The next step will be notification to the Eurasian Economic Commission of Kyrgyzstan's completion of all domestic procedures required for the agreement to enter into force.
