Issues related to the implementation of new agreements on petroleum product imports, the current situation in the domestic and global fuel markets, and the volume of fuel and lubricant stocks in Kyrgyz warehouses were discussed at a meeting between Erlist Akunbekov, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, and the heads of companies involved in the supply and sale of fuel and lubricants, 24.kg reports.
The meeting focused on ensuring the stability of Kyrgyzstan's domestic fuel market.
Following the meeting, the minister stated that the state is providing timely subsidies to ensure the domestic market has the necessary fuel supplies. In this regard, he emphasized that all petrol stations across the country must operate normally without any restrictions for consumers.
Furthermore, relevant government agencies have been instructed to expedite the conclusion and implementation of new import contracts for petroleum products and to strengthen ongoing monitoring of the fuel market.
The meeting demonstrates the government's commitment to proactively minimizing the risks of potential fuel supply disruptions ahead of the autumn agricultural season, when demand for diesel fuel traditionally rises. For Kyrgyzstan, which is almost entirely dependent on imported petroleum products, supply stability remains a key factor in economic security.
The special attention to concluding new import agreements reflects the authorities' desire to diversify supply channels and ensure uninterrupted supplies to the regions. At the same time, strengthening state market monitoring should prevent artificial shortages, unjustified price increases, and speculative sentiment.
Amid the continued volatility of global oil prices and changes in logistics routes, the timely accumulation of fuel and lubricant stockpiles is of strategic importance. The stable operation of gas stations is important not only for the population but also for the transport sector, agriculture, and industry, on which the country's sustainable economic growth depends.
