Kyrgyzstan invested over $20.2 million in the economies of EAEU member states in 2024, with almost the entire amount - $19.9 million - directed to Kazakhstan, reports Akchabar.kg.
The main instrument for mutual investment remains equity participation in companies and fund shares.
According to the portal, Kyrgyz businesses have significantly increased investments in Kazakhstan over the past three years: in 2022, there was a capital outflow of $9.3 million, while in 2023, investments reached $18.4 million. This makes Kyrgyzstan the second-largest investor in Kazakhstan among EAEU countries after Russia, which invested $1.72 billion. For comparison, Armenia posted a negative result (-$1.8 million), and Belarus withdrew $65.5 million.
Beyond Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan invested $300,000 in Belarus, while Russia saw a capital outflow of $900,000, which may indicate withdrawal of funds or losses.
Conversely, Kyrgyzstan attracted direct investments primarily from Russia ($161.9 million) and Kazakhstan ($100.8 million). Belarus contributed a modest $900,000, while Armenia, like Kyrgyzstan toward it, made no investments.
Overall, mutual direct investments within the EAEU totaled $2.39 billion in 2024, nearly 70% of which went to Kazakhstan. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan’s inward investment rose by 43%, Belarus grew by 9%, while Kazakhstan saw an 8% decline. Armenia continues to lose previously attracted capital.
