Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov announced the launch of independent production of som banknotes, calling it a historic event for the national economy. He wrote about this on his Facebook page, Economist.kg reports.

Japarov emphasized that the republic has reached a new technological level, allowing it to not only meet domestic needs but also fulfill international orders. "For the first time in the history of our country, we have begun printing our own national currency, the som. Previously, we had to order printing from a foreign country and pay for it. Now everything has changed," he said in his post.

The production facility has received an international certificate confirming its compliance with global security standards, opening the door to accepting orders for currency printing from other countries. The facility's technical capacity also allows it to produce other secure documents: passports, ID cards, driver's licenses, vehicle registration certificates, and strict accountability forms. "Thanks to the certificate, the security of our products is at the highest level—it is impossible to forge such documents, while prices remain affordable," the president noted.

Currently, Kyrgyzstan is already in negotiations with several countries regarding the printing of national currency and the production of official forms. Experts believe that entering the security printing services market will become a new source of foreign exchange earnings for the country. Localizing production will save budget funds previously allocated to foreign contractors, create jobs, and stimulate the development of related industries.

Analysts view this achievement as an important step in implementing the country's economic independence strategy: the ability to independently supply the country with security printing increases the stability of the financial system and strengthens the trust of international partners. In the near future, plans are underway to expand production capacity and implement additional levels of security, allowing Kyrgyzstan to compete with leading global manufacturers.
