Kyrgyzstan and China have agreed to launch a new international air corridor linking Central Asia with western China, according to the Civil Aviation Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Economist.kg reports.

The new route will connect Kyrgyzstan with the city of Kashgar in China and will become part of the global “Air Silk Road” initiative, providing a direct air link between Kyrgyzstan and China’s western region.

According to the agency, the new corridor will ease congestion in existing airspace routes, increase capacity, and enhance flight safety.

The route’s specifications and operational procedures were finalized following a meeting between aviation authorities of both countries held on April 28–29, 2025.

Both sides expressed readiness for the prompt launch of the new corridor and agreed to continue coordination through relevant government agencies and airline carriers.

The opening of this air route is expected to strengthen trade and economic ties, create new opportunities for cargo and passenger transportation, and promote tourism and Kyrgyzstan’s integration into the international transport network.

Work on the project is ongoing in cooperation with Chinese aviation authorities and other interested organizations.
