On the sidelines of the International Forum in Astana, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev held a bilateral meeting with Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Nooruddin Azizi, the Kyrgyz government’s press service reports.
During the meeting, Amangeldiev emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Afghanistan, noting that stability in the country is a key factor for regional security. He reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s support for efforts by the current Afghan authorities to stabilize the situation and expressed respect for the Afghan people's right to independently determine their future.
Amangeldiev also highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s active participation in international and regional initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Minister Azizi, in turn, expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for its support and conveyed Afghanistan’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation based on friendship and mutual assistance. He stressed the importance of expanding trade and economic relations, developing joint projects, and promoting them in areas of shared interest.
The two sides discussed enhancing trade cooperation, including the export of Kyrgyz products such as agricultural goods, textiles, machinery, and equipment to the Afghan market.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at advancing Kyrgyz-Afghan cooperation.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that bilateral trade between Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan reached $66 million in 2024, with $7 million accounting for Afghan exports to Kyrgyzstan.
In 2023, Kyrgyzstan exported goods worth $14.9 million to Kabul, including dried legumes ($6.6 million), mixed mineral or chemical fertilizers, and other items. According to UN COMTRADE data, total Kyrgyz exports to Afghanistan reached $50.49 million last year.
