Kyrgyzstan Accepted Formula 1 World Championship Baton from Italy

BISHKEK - Kyrgyzstan has officially accepted Italy's right to host a round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship, the premier international Formula 1 powerboat racing tournament. A baton-passing ceremony took place in Sardinia, Italy, as part of the latest round of the world championship, Akchabar.kg reports.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Italy, Ermek Omuraliev, and the Director of the State Agency for Tourism Development, Eduard Kubatov. The baton-passing ceremony marked the beginning of the final stage of preparation for the competition, which will be held for the first time on Lake Issyk-Kul on August 1-2. Kyrgyzstan will be the first Central Asian country to host a round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship.

During the meetings, the parties discussed organizational matters for the upcoming races, as well as prospects for developing sports tourism and promoting Issyk-Kul as an international venue for major competitions.

Hosting the World Cup is expected to draw the attention of international audiences to Kyrgyzstan's tourism potential and strengthen the country's position on the international sporting map. During the visit, the Kyrgyz delegation also held talks with Sardinian leaders on expanding trade, economic, investment, and cultural cooperation.
