President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held talks with Michael Doppelmayr, Chairman of the Board of the Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, the Presidential press service reported.
The company is implementing two major tourism infrastructure projects in Kyrgyzstan: the construction of a cable car in Ala-Archa National Park (Chuy Region) and in the Ala-Too Resort ski cluster (Issyk-Kul Region).
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current progress of construction, stressing the need to strictly follow the established schedule and ensure high quality standards.
“I am confident that these facilities will become significant tourist attractions, drawing both local residents and international visitors,” President Japarov said.
Michael Doppelmayr expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the company and said Doppelmayr/Garaventa is proud to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan. He assured that the projects will be delivered to the highest standards in line with international requirements.
Earlier today, President Japarov laid a time capsule to mark the start of construction of the Ala-Too Resort all-season ski cluster. The project includes:
-
250 km of ski slopes
-
4 km of cable cars
-
hotels, an ethnovillage, and parking for 4,000 vehicles
-
around 5,000 new jobs
The resort is expected to host up to 2 million tourists annually, with the first tourist zone scheduled to open in December 2026. By that time, a new road from Karakol will be completed, along with helicopter transport connections.
