BISHKEK — Kumtor Gold Company has published its production and financial results for 2025. Despite increasingly challenging mining conditions and rising operational costs, the enterprise maintained high profitability thanks to favorable conditions on the global gold market, Akchabar.kg reports.

Gold produced

388,418 ounces (12,081 kg)

All-in sustaining cost

$1,884 per ounce

Average selling price

$3,711 per ounce

Price range

$2,882.70 – $4,612.95 per ounce

The company explained that increased costs are driven by two key factors:

  1. More complex mining operations: At the Kumtor mine, deepening of the open pit and changing geology are making ore extraction more difficult.
  2. Geopolitics and logistics: Recent global events have triggered price increases for critical resources:

Reagents and chemicals

+70%

Spare parts for equipment

+30%

Electricity

Logistics have been particularly challenging: transportation costs rose by 106.4%, while cargo delivery times increased from three weeks to three months.

Despite rising costs, high gold prices delivered substantial profits:

  • Revenue: $1.4346 billion
  • Net profit: $706.1 million
  • Taxes and budget payments: $246.5 million

"The margin between production cost ($1,884/oz) and average selling price ($3,711/oz) allowed the company to offset higher operating expenses and maintain a stable financial position," the report states.

Kumtor Gold Company emphasized that it will continue optimizing production processes and implementing technologies to reduce unit costs. However, the company warns: future cost dynamics will depend on external economic conditions and the stability of global supply chains.

For Kyrgyzstan, where Kumtor remains one of the largest taxpayers and exporters, the enterprise's stable operation is of strategic importance for budget execution and macroeconomic stability.
