ASTANA - From January to April 2026, Kazakhstan exported approximately 21.9 million tons of oil, over 10.1 million tons of coal, and 766,600 tons of flour, according to information from the National Statistics Bureau of Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports.

The total volume of crude oil and petroleum products amounted to 28.3 million tons, of which the majority was exported, while 6.4 million tons were consumed domestically. Coal production reached 36.9 million tons, with a significant share also going to the domestic market.

High figures for copper ore (56.8 million tons) and iron ore (18.2 million tons) remained, while asbestos exports amounted to 68,100 tons out of 80,900 tons produced.

At the same time, the country remains dependent on imports in a number of sectors. In particular, more than 5.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas were imported, while diesel fuel imports exceeded 255,000 tons. Sugar and some meat products accounted for a significant share.

At the same time, Kazakhstan maintains its position as a major exporter of flour and vegetable oils, exporting 766,600 tons of flour and 406,100 tons of oils. Domestic demand for fuel and electricity remains high.

Over the past ten years, oil production in the country has increased from 80 to 100 million tons per year, driven by the country's largest fields—Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak.
