Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakakliev, announced that the government will cease direct price regulation on socially significant goods, Forbes.kz reports.
The decision, made in line with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's instructions, has already been formalized through amendments to the country's business regulation legislation.
"We are moving away from direct price controls and shifting toward targeted social support. The mechanism for setting threshold and maximum prices is being eliminated in favor of stricter monitoring of the 15% retail markup," explained Shakakliev.
The ministry recalled that the pilot project "Digital Food Voucher" is currently being implemented in Kazakhstan. It enables eligible citizens to purchase essential goods at wholesale prices, without retail markup, ensuring targeted and fair distribution of assistance.
The minister emphasized that all presidential directives are under close supervision and will be implemented on schedule.
