Kazakhstan continues to lead the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in offering the most affordable prices for socially important food products, according to the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan.
This was stated by First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Aizhan Bizhanova during a meeting reviewing inflation results for the first half of 2025.
According to the ministry, with the start of the early harvest season, vegetable prices have not only stabilized but have also decreased. Potato prices fell by 1.3%, and carrot prices dropped by 0.9%. Prices for rice, buckwheat, eggs, and flour are also continuing to decline.
Food production in Kazakhstan grew by 10.5% in the first five months of 2025, reaching 1.5 trillion tenge (approximately $2.9 billion). The most significant increases were seen in the production of sugar - from 4.6 thousand to 64 thousand tons; vegetable oil - from 316.3 thousand to 376.8 thousand tons; and dairy products, which rose by 3–4%.
A comparative analysis confirmed that Kazakhstan offers the lowest prices in the EAEU for eggs, flour, bread, sunflower oil, and potatoes. For buckwheat, sugar, and milk, Kazakhstan ranks second only to Belarus.
