The Kazakhstan-France Investment Forum was held in Astana, bringing together over 300 representatives from the business communities of both countries.
The agenda covered a wide range of topics, including the strengthening and diversification of trade and economic ties, the development of transport, energy, and industrial potential, cooperation in food security and healthcare, sustainable urban development, improving the quality of urban environments, as well as collaboration in housing and utilities (HCU) and tourism sectors, the official web-site of Kazakh Government says.
France is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners, accounting for around 80% of all trade between France and the Central Asian countries. Opening the forum, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that bilateral relations have reached the level of an Enhanced Strategic Partnership.
He highlighted several key joint projects, including the construction of a 1 GW wind power plant in southern Kazakhstan by Total Energies, the localization of production and new investments in Kazakhstan’s railway sector by Alstom, a hydrogen energy project at the Pavlodar Refinery in cooperation with Air Liquide, and the development of Kazakhstan’s food and dairy industry with the participation of Danone, Lactalis, Lidea, and others.
Kazakhstan expressed its interest in further developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, as well as in expanding cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and water resource management.
As a result of the forum, several agreements were signed in the fields of energy, transport, healthcare, and water resources.
