A signing ceremony for a BOT agreement was held in Iran to transfer a plot of land in the Shahid Rajaee Port of Bandar Abbas for the construction of a Kazakh transport and logistics terminal, Kazpravda.kz reports.

The document was signed by Aman Malgazhdarov, General Director of the QazExportPromotion Corporate Fund under the QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center JSC of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, and Hossein Abbas Nejad, Head of the Hormozgon Ports and Maritime Organization. The agreement is for 27 years: two years for construction and another 25 years for operation.

The project's implementation will be an important step in strengthening transport cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran and expanding the capabilities of the North-South International Transport Corridor. The new terminal will provide Kazakhstan with a direct logistics hub in one of Iran's largest ports, improve the efficiency of export routes, and ensure more stable access for Kazakh products to markets in the Persian Gulf, South and Southeast Asia, and East Africa.

The creation of its own terminal is of strategic importance for Kazakhstan amid growing competition for transit flows between Asia and Europe. The project will diversify the country's foreign trade routes, reduce dependence on specific transport routes, and strengthen Kazakhstan's role as a key logistics hub in Eurasia. Furthermore, infrastructure development at Shahid Rajaee Port could contribute to increased trade between the countries of the region and attract new investment in the transport sector.

Amid Kazakhstan's intensified foreign economic policy, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. The parties discussed the state of bilateral relations, prospects for developing trade and economic cooperation, and international issues. The conversation demonstrated Astana's commitment to maintaining dialogue with key global partners and strengthening its position in the global economic system.
