Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the readiness of Kazakh companies to participate in Afghanistan's infrastructure projects and increase agricultural supplies, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.

He announced this during a meeting with Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuriddin Azizi within the framework of the International Forum in Astana.

"Kazakhstan views Afghanistan as an important partner in the region and intends to strengthen the atmosphere of trust and cooperation," Tokaev emphasized.

He noted interest in creating a sustainable and secure environment in Afghanistan, which will open up new opportunities for the entire region. The country is currently building the Turgundi-Herat railway, where Kazakh enterprises can take part.

On the sidelines of the forum, negotiations were also held with the French delegation headed by Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Laurent Saint-Martin. More than 40 heads of French companies interested in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan arrived in Astana.

Special attention was paid to migration issues in a conversation with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration Amy Pope. Tokayev noted Kazakhstan's active work in combating illegal migration and protecting the rights of labor migrants.

Pope highly praised Kazakhstan's upcoming chairmanship of the Almaty process, which will help strengthen regional dialogue on migration issues in Central Asia.
