In Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan, a package of agreements worth over $400 million was signed following the Uzbekistan-China Interregional Trade and Economic Forum. Approximately 400 government officials and business representatives from both countries attended the event on September 26, UzDaily.uz reported.
The Chinese side was represented by delegations from Shaanxi Province, the SilkRoad Industrial Cooperation Center, Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group, and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. Participants were presented with Karakalpakstan's investment and resource potential, current incentives, and promising projects.
The negotiations covered mining, geology, information technology, agriculture, and other areas. The signed documents provide for the development of cooperation in these areas.
The economic development of Karakalpakstan is important not only for the region itself but also for the long-term stability of Uzbekistan. The region possesses significant natural resources and simultaneously faces serious environmental and socioeconomic challenges.
