Iran and Uzbekistan expand economic cooperation

The Iran-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held its 16th session in Tehran, the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade reports.

The meeting was co-chaired by Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, and Mohammad Atabak, Iran’s Minister of Mines, Industry, and Trade. Discussions focused on industrial cooperation, the development of transport and logistics links, and the implementation of joint investment projects.

“The parties agreed on measures to increase mutual trade volumes, including the effective use of preferential trade agreements, the organization of national product exhibitions, and the development of e-commerce,” the statement said.

Special attention was given to the implementation of agreements reached during previous high-level meetings. As part of investment cooperation, the two countries agreed on joint projects in agriculture, the food industry, IT, chemical and textile sectors, as well as mechanical engineering.

At the conclusion of the session, a final protocol was signed to formalize the agreements reached. The sides also identified concrete steps to develop transport links and simplify procedures for the movement of goods between the two countries.
