TASHKENT - A delegation from the Agency for Forest Expansion and Desertification Control of Uzbekistan signed two agreements with Chinese partners at the international conference "China-Central Asia Cooperation in Combating Desertification," held in Yinchuan, China, Daryo.uz reports.

The first agreement was signed with the Forestry and Steppe Administration of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China. The document provides for joint projects to expand green zones, create protective forest plantations, develop nurseries, and promote sustainable forestry. Particular emphasis is placed on restoring degraded lands, combating soil salinization, and rationally managing water resources.

The second agreement was signed with the Chinese company Yinchuan Wolsenn Modern Irrigation Co., Ltd. It envisages the introduction of modern water-saving irrigation technologies in Uzbekistan, including fertigation systems, as well as training local specialists in their use.

Fertigation allows for the simultaneous delivery of water and fertilizer directly to the plant root system, increasing irrigation efficiency and reducing fertilizer consumption by 20–50%.

Cooperation in ecology and reforestation is already developing: in 2025, halophytic plant nurseries were established in five districts of Uzbekistan, and 1,400 tons of seeds were delivered. Furthermore, a joint project with Sinoway Forest to establish 5,000 hectares of pistachio plantations is ongoing in the Surkhandarya region.
