National Leader of the Turkmen people, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid an official visit to France, where he was received by President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, Eurasiatoday.ru reports.

This marks Berdimuhamedov’s second meeting with a French president. The first took place in 2010, during his presidency, when he held talks with then-President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The Paris talks concluded with the signing of a package of agreements, including a contract with Thales Alenia Space for the delivery of Turkmenistan’s second telecommunications satellite.

The two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in sustainable urban infrastructure, expand educational and academic programs, and continue their joint archaeological mission.

International issues were also on the agenda. Berdimuhamedov and Macron discussed the crisis in Ukraine and the tense situation in West Asia (the Middle East).

Official Ashgabat emphasized that cooperation with France is developing not only on a bilateral basis but also within multilateral diplomatic formats. Regular political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries are becoming a well-established practice.

Although the Turkmen delegation actively raised the issue of energy cooperation, it was not explicitly mentioned in the published documents.

Prior to his visit to France, Berdimuhamedov toured several Central Asian countries.
