The Council of Heads of Government of the CIS member states approved a new Agreement on Cooperation in the Development of Heavy Engineering Industries during its session held on June 5 in Dushanbe, reports Asiaplus.tj.

According to the CIS Executive Committee, the document aims to enhance cooperation through information sharing and best practices in industry, training highly qualified personnel for real sectors of the economy, collaboration in emerging technologies, and the modernization of manufacturing technologies.

The agreement outlines key areas of joint activity, including the innovative development and modernization of heavy engineering technologies and equipment, and the advancement of machine-building industries across CIS states. This encompasses the design and production of machinery and equipment for metallurgical, mining, energy, oil and gas, and chemical industries, as well as the manufacturing of large metal structures and industrial products.

The Council also approved a Concept for the Development of Cooperation in the Light Industry Sector and an Action Plan for its Implementation. This document promotes cooperation in processing raw materials of animal and plant origin, interaction with chemical and petrochemical industries, and integration with related economic sectors.

Planned initiatives include technology development, equipment modernization, technical re-equipment, and the creation of new production facilities for light industry and waste processing. The concept also proposes cooperation on standardizing safety and quality requirements for light industry products and establishing knowledge-sharing centers.

Additionally, participants discussed a new Concept for Harmonizing National Air Traffic Management Systems, replacing the outdated version adopted 21 years ago. Given major changes in the aviation sector, the new concept aims to align national air traffic systems, standardizing regulations, procedures, and operational practices to streamline coordination across national air navigation systems.

The Council also proposed amendments to the CIS Health Cooperation Concept. Updates include a revised definition of “health protection” and the introduction of new principles such as promoting socio-economic development, openness to cooperation with international organizations, patient associations, and private sector entities.
